My name is Daniel Feldmann.  I am a young adult finishing my high school career.  From a young age I have had a fondness for poetry above other genres of literature, save perhaps epic fantasy.

The poem I have long held dear because of its ability to tell a story in a powerful and, at times, poignant manner that possesses beauty and grace.  When it does not tell a story, it still has a message to communicate.  Poetry is sometimes the only suitable medium for expressing what lies within one's soul.  Poetry or music, which are cousins, and can be equal in their ability to evoke emotion and thought.

My favorite type of music, if I were forced to choose a single genre, would have to be Irish ballads.  These songs possess many qualities of poetry.  They contain distinct meters and tell lovely stories.  Some are humerous, even ridiculous, others are mournful and tell of hardships that have befallen the Irish people.  They are all part of a rich tradition that has survived centuries.

I try my hand from time to time at writing my own poetry. So far these endeavors have resulted in works of decent quality, but there is still room for much improvement.  I look forward to using this blog to expose myself and my readers to a wider array of poems, and developing a richer voice of my own.  As I continue analyzing poems for you dear reader, I hope you enjoy the insights I provide and see growth even in these amateur works of scholarly aspiration.
